    • ...tried to roll up my sleeves and migrate many of the entries in my SQL db to mySQL when migrating from DotNetNuke to Joomla, but found it more efficient for me (and my small site) to migrate over the good ol' fashion way - cut and paste. ;)

    • I'd have to agree ... phpMyAdmin is your friend.

One of my latest projects has me merging a very large MSAccess database (and very poorly written MSAccess database too I might add) and a previous version Joomla site into a Joomla framework with a custom application attached.

Good 'ol CSV, SQL, and a few run-once custom functions are handling hundreds of thousands of records there.

    • Hi Ragdata,

you think it would be possible to find a way to "translate" my old database into joomla database ?

    • Absolutely ... the trick is not depending on someone else's idea of what your 'old' database might contain, and what your new database needs to be.

The docs I linked will let you know what your new database needs to be. Your old database may as well be a pile of scrapbook pages.

If your old site was made 'line after line' ... you don't need a "translator", you need an API.
