    • Is there anyway of automatically redirecting an article to another article. So in other words, you arrive at article 1 from a search engine in that article automatically redirects to article 2

    • Yes, you have to use 301 redirection. I already implemented this to redirect articles from my main site to aother articles in a subfolder.
If you use a good sef component then you can probably do that easily. I'm using Sef Advance but other Sef components certainly allow redirections

    • 301 redirect would not work because of the nature of the URL. However, I have got it working successfully using direct PHP which is a little plug-in that allows you to input PHP into an article.

    • Not for nothing but isn't that a blatant violation of Googles webmaster policies?

Showing one page to the search engines then redirecting to another for users is not good karma...

Unless the page is no longer there, in which case a 301 is appropriate and would work
