    • When someone is impatient and says, "I haven't got all day," I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?

That is not good business sense to announce they are late in releasing a template!

Just subscribe to the forum and you will receive an email when a post is made. by Alex Devine

      Hi Alex
I think it´s a great business sense to be honest and inform your customers as best and accessible as possible. It´s no problem to be late one month (never experienced it before here) - especially with the reasons mentioned. Nope I will not subscribe to a flood of new forum mails. My inbox is stuffed enough :) For me it´s more "not good business sense" to have to search for the "What´s going on".
The alternative would have been a customer mail "This month we are a bit later - here is why"

      kind regards
      André

    • I've been in software development for more then 35 years and I have really big respect to all developers, I can understand that sometimes something is going not so well.
But, lack of defining time frame send a very unpleasant message saying we totally lost and we don't know if/when we will be back in business. I can not imagine, i can say to my bosses or
client that something is wrong and it will be delay without any approx time frame

Again, I have big respect to all of you and I understand that even ballistic problems are the part of the commitment to profession such as software development and it is no problem with this. But lack of time frame to is a very strong and very bad message which you are sending a broad.

With really big respect to all developers putting everything back on track

    • There has never been a official statement regarding the exact day that a template is released. It has been common for RT and other template providers to release them on the first.

We should be fortunate that the team as made it clear that there will be a delay.

If RT wanted to they could release March's template on the last day of the month and still fulfill there commitment.

The very first post gave the exact time frame to the day, and that is today. However we have until 12pm MST by my clock to get this out the door. Trust me we are all hands on deck to make that happen.
...We now have the 3rd slated for the release of the March template...

      Really??

To me it seemed pretty clear in the first post that they were shooting for a targed of today, the 3rd. If he's going by his time zone (UTC/GMT -7 hours) then he's got another 12hrs to meet his initially stated goal.

Based on the history here at RT, if he's not going to make the goal he'll let us know.

I know everyone gets excited at release time but to say things are off track or a bad message is sent is a bit of a stretch.

Look at it as some extra time to rest up so you can go crazy playing with all the new releases coming out..

    • I'm sorry this is more about Joomla 1.6 which has a impact on march template.
It is more about self respect as a professional.
I just can NOT imagine, I can say to my clients or bosses or anyone involved in the project:. I have delay without providing time frame. Maybe I've been to long in this profession maybe i'm just to old to keep up with up to date current attitude. Never ever happen to me to say something about delay without providing time frame. Again sorry about my post Let it fly with the general flow.

With the really big respect to all developers, Lisc
