I think they are based on another planet. They use the Stargate to come back to post and release the templates.
They use off-world technology to create their templates , that is why they are always cutting edge compared to the basic stuff from everyone else.
Thats what I believe.

I thought they upgraded away from Stargate and now use a flux capacitor due to performance issues?
They dont use any technology for the templates... they are self aware and just evolve, their offspawn is the extensions within themselves...
