    • Man I just don't get it! The hoopla surrounding the Wordpress "club" and these releases - it's kinda perplexing!

Don't get me wrong! RT is a 'great club' who produce inspiring "templates" but the fact remains...

If you are honest with yourself RT then what is occurring here is little more than "repurposing" of "designs" already forged. I am sure there is (no doubt) 'effort' in repurposing the "templates" for other CMS solutions.

However, what I do not figure is there seems to be little or no regard for any prior purchase of a template design other than a modest discount.

However the reality is if you have a client who would rather and or is better suited to Wordpress v Joomla, and if you are a member of the club already you end up having to fork out additional mullah to use the same "template" in another CMS solution, which the CMS is effectively Open Source to begin with.

I don't wish to deny the RT team income, but I believe it would be a better diplomatic solution to provide any Wordpress, phpbb or Joomla solution of the same and similar design would be to roll them into one club or not 'appear to be value adding, when it really does cost you.

I.E. up the ante of a RT membership say 5, 10 or 15 buck as opposed to having three individual 'divisions.

Becasue as it stands, if you are honest with yourself, what you are doing is creating three 'clubs' within the one entity, instead of value adding to the one club overall.

Dividing and conquering always has a downside.

      Nuff said.

I still like RT. I'll just be thinking twice or thrice in the future!

    • Sloan- not speaking for RT since I am a member like you - but I think you are being unfair on several levels, especially since you are obviously very new here.

I have been with RT since 2005 so I think I have a more balanced view. I have also been in the technology business for 33 years and Internet business for 21 years, and believe what Andy has created and developed here has been and is exceptional.

Firstly "re-purposing" is really twisting the reality somewhat. RT are producing a consistent set of theme designs over multiple platforms, to that extent they are bound to share design elements and graphics.

WP and Joomla are as different as PHPBB3 and Joomla, so the work still needs to be done.

By separating the clubs Andy provides the flexibility to pick and choose. I know many WP users who see Joomla as beyond them and would never use it, but now they can have sites that look as good as a Joomla site.

Price: The cost of membership for each of the clubs is too low IMO. Each of the templates is worth more than the annual fee.

      My only observations are these:

Andy should - well at least consider - an all inclusive membership that provides access to all four clubs for say $199 per year. I would join tomorrow.

Also - and I have said this both publicly and to Andy privately - it would be much better to use an ongoing monthly subscription than an expiring annual subscription model.

I realise there are technical challenges relating to full template access, but these can be overcome I am sure.

Finally, I think you do Andy an injustice if you think "divide and conquer" is his objective. I don't think Andy is capable of thinking in those terms. He is rather integrating the new clubs with the existing ones within his current technical and commercial model.

    • Hello,

I have been an RT member for sometime now and in my personal observation, RT Club is by far one of the best CMS clubs out there, if not Thee best.

Consider these factors when thinkg about the best, template and extension support. RT extensions and other 3rd Party extensions that are supported, template updates or upgrades to the latest Joomla version, some support on phpBB3 etc.

It takes a dedicated team to keep this abreast. The value add here is not even about the foward moving thinking to me but the time invested and support from RT on every single template and extensions they deploy. That makes RT Club stand out.

I have joined other clubs in the past that had flexible membership, fancy templates but not functional, some extension that were not improved upon. Above all, there was not support in these community.

Remember support will always be key and is always the key to great products in the past and presently.

I really appreciate your time for reading my post. Thank you.

      Nak!

    • Stoked to see the WP theme club! :D Can anyone at RT let us know what templates to expect? Will there be releases of the current / older joomla templates? (I'd like to see Infuse), or will we be seeing releases of the new releases together for all clubs from here on out?

    • Like i said in the blog post, the 4 templates after SolarSentintel will be developed quite quickly to 'catch up' to the current Joomla design. Then we plan on releasing subsequent WordPress themes within a few weeks of the Joomla template.

I think we need to investigate the implications of wordpress mu before making a ruling on that.

I was wondering, because I had a project in mind..

On the help section it says
Do subdomains count against my entitlements?
If the subdomain is a separate site, then it will count as a single entitlement. Therefore, if you had Meridian installed on www.yoursite.com and then Vertigo installed on demo.yoursite.com, that would be 2 entitlements.

On wordpress mu it is subdomains or a folder name for a user blog and technically it is using the same build but using rewrites. I don't envisage installing a load of rt wordpress themes and giving them a choice of which one to use, but having one main one(infuse when it is released) and allowing users to choose the main theme or some basic themes like on blogspot.

    • Figuring that if I spent a little more time with these forums, I might be able to *understand* Joomla enough to actually USE it, on Sept 29 I spent $60 to renew my Joomla club subscription for 180 days. Alas, I am utterly and completely lost trying to build a web site with this CMS (I'm an audio / video media production guy, not a web designer).

A few days later (of course) you guys release WP! A platform I DO understand. In fact, WordPress is my blog/web site platform of preference, since it is ideal for podcasting- which we produce for clients, along with several shows for the masses.

Andy, please consider letting me (and anyone else in my shoes) "swap" the membership fee over to the WordPress club. It's a great deal for RT! The $60 I paid would buy me the 90 day subscription for what others are getting for $40 (on renewal).

My budget simply cannot afford spending another $40 ($100 total) to use WP for three months, when I am certain I will never return to the mysterious world of Joomla.

Please consider this option. I bet I'm not alone.

      Thank you.
