Disaster HELP missing config file

    • Hi.

I have a disaster. I was moving my configuration.php file out of my public html folder for security as suggested on several sites but didn't make a copy before I attempted to move it. It subsequently disappeared. The folder I created and moved it to was empty. I searched my hosting and it's gone. I read somewhere that using the configuration.php-dist may be able to get something back working again, but the instructions where not clear.

Does anyone have any advice or help?

    • A) If you don't have a backup, check with your host and see if they have a one you can revert to. Most hosts backup your data every 24 hrs and keep up to 3 days of data.

      B) Try browsing for the folder / file through your FTP client or CP (again).

      C) Search or post on joomla.org for a solution

You mention the instructions were not clear, can you post a link to them?

(Although someone may have the answer for you here, joomla.org is really the place to find a solution as this is not template related.)

      D) ALWAYS keep a good backup and backup before making major changes like this (and even minor ones).
