I FTPed the files to my server. Then I went to my website and usually at this point I get the installation GUI where you supply the MySQL credentials and so on. But I instead am getting the message to REMOVE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY...
I thought that message appears after you've finished installation?
So just to try it out I did changed the Installation directories name and then tried again and I get a MySQL error.
"Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL"
Am I missing a step or some permissions?

If your root has an old install all those files need to be deleted before you proceed with the new install.

- Thanks. That was it. I think i had a file in the root directory that didnt get over written.

Sorry for my english I'm french.
I have the same probleme i'm trying to install the Omnicron RocketLauncher to localhost with Xammp and i have always the same probleme : "Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL" Why????
My values:

1. Host name, on localhost, usually localhost.
2. Is your Username root? Is that what you used when you set up the DB?
3. Password, well, only you know that....
4. Is your Database Name also root?
When you set up a new install you need to create a new DB, after you create a new DB, those will be the details you enter on screen 4 of the install.
It would probably be easier for you to visit the XAMMP site and look for tutorials or instructions in French. - Thanks,
