    Newbie Help w/Installation

Posted 14 years 2 weeks ago
    • I downloaded the Infusion Template several weeks ago and am just getting around to starting on the site. I uploaded re_infuse_j15.tgz, but despite the installation instructions saying I could download other files, I get this error: Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package. There are multiple zipped files in the installation package, but this occurred for all bu the rt_infuse_j15.tgz file. Can you help? Thanks, DJ

    • hi again,

      welcome to rockettheme! :)

if you try to install the infuse rocketlauncher or extensions package, then you will get that above error. the extensions have to be unpacked locally first, then installed one by one into your joomla site. the rocketlauncher package is a full quickstart package including joomla, the template, the demo content and the extensions and can not be installed into an existing joomla site. the same applies to the infuse source files, they contain fonts and logo files but can not be installed into a joomla site.

please let me know if that helps or if i have misunderstood your issue.

      thanks, kat :)

    • I did not realize it was to be installed INSTEAD of the Joomla usual installation. Could you spell out how I can now install it? I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. Are you saying that I cannot use the Infusion template since I already have an existing Joomla site? I truly like the appearance of this template and believe it will be excellent for a kids' website i'm preparing to start on. I printed out all the documentation which I think I will understand once I get through the basic install. Thank you for any help you can provide, DJ

    • hi again,

sure, you can install just the infuse template itself, the file is called rt_infuse_j15.tgz, the instructions can be found here in the infuse demo site:
      demo.rockettheme.com/oct09/tutorials/installation

      hope this helps, kat :)

    • Oh, being a "novice" is so frustrating AND time-consuming! :) Yes, I have another question. The info page says under Downloading the Template Files:

      * Infuse Template (rt_infuse_j15.tgz) This file is the template package you will use to install Infuse into Joomla. DONE
      * Infuse Custom Extensions (infuse-extensions-j15.zip) This package contains each of the individual custom extensions included in the Infuse template release. DONE
      * Infuse Source PNGs (infuse-sources.zip) This package contains the Adobe Fireworks source PNGs for making modifications and customizations to the images in the template. You will need Adobe Fireworks image editing to fully utilize the Source PNG files. THESE DO NOT UPLOAD--HOW DO I GET THESE IN? They are .pngs/backgrounds, etc.

I am assuming all should be put ON the website just in case they are needed? Thanks for your help, DJ

    • hi there,

the source png files can not be installed into your joomla site.
those are just layered versions of images that were used for the template and possibly the font files that were used in the logo, in case you want to modify them with fireworks. in most cases you wont need the source files at all.

    • Since this is still "Newbie" help, I hope I can post it here--the site is coming along (slow but sure). Another question, if you don't mind, I would like the Main Menu to just list the Sections but the top menu to show the drop down categories--is this possible? When I put a category on the menu, it shows up both places but I only want it on the top. Though it is not really live, here is the "dummy" site and you can see what I mean if you scroll over "Bible Books" on left, "Daniel" shows up blended in with "Critters." Scroll over the top and "Daniel" drops down nicely. I gave up on K2 and just uninstalled it and am going with what I know thus far. I could not find any info on this part. Thanks for any help, DJ
