localhost jumps to internet in stead of staying local

Posted 14 years 4 months ago
    • Hi,

I have trouble with localhosting of my website. After I typed the address in my browser: http://localhost/index.php the loading process starts, but after after one or two seconde the site jumps to www.mysite.org on the world wide web.

So, in stead of working at the site on my localhost, I end up on the internet. The site is www.drjanvandijk.org and is created with the Affinity template. I developed this site together with dr. Jan van Dijk for parents and educators of deafblind children.

First I created a site backup with the Akeeba backup tool from the internet-version of my website. I installed this version on my local machine via the Akeeba Backup installer. I needed to change some settings like the database server host name in order to restore the database. At the end I get a warning to over write the configuration.php because of some setting like log-path and temp-path. In the past this method worked fine, but now not anymore.

Therefore I tried another method: I downloaded the complete site (httpdocs) via ftp to my local machine. I also downloaded a copy of the database via PHPMyAdmin. On my local machine: I imported the database and pasted the complete site. Result is the same: after a split of a second, the site jumps to the internet in stead of staying local.

I am working in a Mac (MacBookPro) and use MAMP PRO as web server and database server. Several other websites are running normal and stay local.

Wen I install a fresh Joomla site on my local machine, the site stays also normal locally.

Who can give me an advice? Hope so there is anyone with the experience to help me, so I can go on developing this site for the deaf blind community.

      with regards,
      Pim
