Install Affinity Problem

    • UPDATE

I did a fresh install Joomla (v.1.5.22) on a website, but still no luck uploading Affinity. It times out at 30 sec. or just gives a white Joomla screen. I don't want to try the rocketlauncher version as I'm set up to install Joomla through one click Fantastico.

Templates shows as writable, but it's prob a permissions thing somewhere.

However, I've had no problems installing other templates from other cos. such as at whitecourt.org, and no problems installing Jomsocial on mywhitecourt.com.

      OLDER POST

I just downloaded the Affinity template today, so latest version I'm assuming.

Followed basic instructions to install. but Joomla install page goes white after a minute or so.

I have jomsocial 2.04 installed (just upgraded from 2.02). I uninstalled superfish module before trying to install Affinity template, as I would not need it with the template and didn't want potential conflicts.

I'm hoping I don't have to uninstall jomsocial first and that it works with 2.04

      Joomla version is 1.5.20
      MySQL version 5.0.91-community
      Apache version 2.0.63
      PHP version 5.2.14

    • Could be the memory limit in your php.ini is too low (or the timeout limit is too short).

Check the memory limit and the version of php you are running, memory limit should be 32-64MB, and php should be version 5.2.xx, not version 4.

    • Besides what I already suggested, I really don't have any advice except for verifying the version of php through Help > System Info, or contacting your host.

(Many members think they are running the proper version of php only to find out that it's not.)

    • Thank you for your efforts JEM.

Unzip and manual upload to tmp folder, then Install from Directory has the template in place.

I don't know a lot about permissions, but I'm guessing that was the problem (and still something I need to look at I think for configuring the template). Don't know much about it; FTP vs Server permissions, server unmask etc. but for someone having the same problem, this might be something to consider.

My cpanel shows the PHP version, and I've installed other programs requiring 5+ PHP, so that wasn't the issue.

Extensions are installing okay normally so far.

    • You might try installing Gantry and the template separately.

      Might work....

      {It is really hard, or impossible to duplicate this particular problem on local host or my server}

For me, all is good... my guess is your serve configuration.
