  • Joomla 1.5.15 - Admin Menus Stopped Working on Two Sites

    • Hello, I have used the Rockettheme Templates on two non-profit youth ministry websites. The templates I used were hyperion for broadcasthope.com and replicant 2 for groundwire.net.

      About two weeks ago, suddenly on a Monday morning we noticed that on both websites, the administration drop down menus suddenly stopped working, and now we can't do any administrative tasks whatsoever.

      I've checked with the people that manage the site, they said the didn't do any installations, upgrades or changes of any sort. They did say they sent out an email campaign using acyMailer through only one of the websites.

      But here's the confusing part. There were no php upgrades or Joomla upgrades or anything of the sort. Both of those websites are hosted with two different web hosts. Groundwire.net is hosted through hostmysite.com, while broadcasthope.com is hosted through my own dedicated server. But I still can't understand how both menus on both sites would get disabled at the same time. And I have no idea what to do to get them back up and running again.

      Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever of how I could fix this?

    • Did you try to use different browsers? Did you try to use different browsers on a different computers? Sometimes antivirus or adblock programs or browser extensions prevents JS from loading on a web sites. You should try those first

    • Thanks for your input Igor, but we have tried multiple browsers across both PC's and MAC's from two different office locations. Any other ideas?

    • Hi,

      there are few things that I noticed which you could try to do.

      1. find on the internet FULL installation package of Joomla 1.5.15 (since that is your version of the system) and unpack it in your Joomla root folder

      2. upgrade your Joomla to the latest version of Joomla 1.5.x, which is 1.5.25

      After that check your admin menus. There are files missing in your Joomla which prevents admin menus to load correctly.

    • Thanks Igor! Somehow our .htaccess files came up either missing or corrupted, and they were causing the mootools.js file not to load for some reason. Thanks again for all your help!
