SOLVED can not install modules on a local server

Posted 12 years 11 months ago
    • I have a copy of a website installed on my local server but when I go and try to install an extension, I get the error, "Unable to find install package". What the heck do I need to do to get this to work? i can not test new extensions on the server if I can not install locally? Arghhhh.

I can install the same module on the copy that is on the hosting server, i just can not do it on local server

      many thanks,
      Houston

    • I found the problem.

I had to go and turn off FTP access manually in configuration.php. Turning it off via admin was not working.

    • Hm. Just a wild guess but can you check if you have zip support enabled on your local server? Also, can you unpack zip package to the Joomla temp folder and try to install it from there?
