Site acting wired when installed locally

I know this will be hard to answer since I can not really provide a link, but when I install a copy of a site backed up by Akeeba on my local testing server the site seems to work fine except RokStories collapses and when I try and log in, instead of refreshing the screen and showing me logged in, I get a blank screen. I can simply reload teh screen and it shows me logged in. Dont understand the blank screen.
Here is what RokStories looks like.

The blank screen is, well, a blank screen. The browser frame with nothing but a snow storm.

I am on a mac running Lion (10.7.3) and I am not able to find any php.ini file for my local server. I found an article that says it is at usr/local/php but there is no php directory there.

Ok, well i found the file here and changed it from 128 to 256 but It says the file is locked so I can not save it.

Do you know how I unlock it? I am totally new at all this local stuff and it is driving me crazy. it seems like it is an endless path of one road block after another that keeps taking me down one rabbit hole after another.This image is hidden for guests.

So now I have installed it in a subdirectory of another site just to see if it was something with my local setting or something with the backup copy.
Now you can see what it is doing live
. Now it is not showing up on a live server either. However it does work just fine at its real home at
www.dallascameraclub.org
