Joomla Installation Problem

I'm installing a rocket-launcher via the usual joomla 3.0 install process.
Ive done this all before but not with J3.0 I keep getting the following message at the database page in the installation:
"MySQL database names and table names may not begin or end with spaces."
There are no spaces anywhere!! I'm using mysql rather than mysqli

I'd looked at your question several times but I never found a solution or anything really reported at Joomla.org about it in J3.0. Did you ever find a solution?
