Kunena Functionality with RocketTheme

  • Kunena Functionality with RocketTheme

    • It took me many hours of researching the issues I'm facing with my Kunena install on Zephyr before I discovered that everywhere OUTSIDE of RocketTheme they report that ANY RocketTheme has problems with many standard Joomla Plugins.

Here, however, I find the reports to say (and I quote) "There is no reason why Kunena shouldn't work."

Someone is not telling the truth, and I feel taken. Now, after paying $50 for access there are no topics related to J 2.5 and I cannot find the answers to my problems. In fact, I feel that to continue trying to use RocketTheme products is a very bad decision. If I wasn't locked in to it for the time being, I would NOT be here now.

I am NOT a developer, and find myself confronted with having to alter code to get these "plug ins" to work. Isn't the definition of a plug-in something that WORKS when it's been powered up?

Come on, guys. How about building something that is actually user-friendly?

Anyway, I can't do much with Kunena as far as personalizing the experience for my visitors, and it all points back to my choice to use your products. AND to have to pay to use the forums I believe is a masterful piece of marketing. Build in the flaws then charge people for the solutions.

      Brilliant.

      Not friendly, but brilliant.

    • Hi,

Over on www.ironthronepublishing.com I run Kunena on J2.5 with Gantry/Cerulean.

To be candid, Kunena is not very friendly. The Kunena templates are old-fashioned, and as a result can cause problems with Rocket Theme's reactive templates (that move seamlessly from mobile phone through tablet to PC displays). Just look at our website on your smart phone and look at it on the PC -- everything looks great except the forum on the mobile phone.

      Regards,

I see this is your first post and instead of telling us the problem you wish to solve, you have a rant about RocketTheme. One way to start a relationship I guess.

We have many sites working with Kunena but as we don't know your problem we are unable to help.

We have over 45,000 subscribing members, many who are repeat subscribers, some are even addicts :cheesy:

The idea of the forums is that if you can't find the answer to your problem then you create a new thread and describe your problem. Unfortunately you have missed this step out and gone straight to the complaining stage.

Most well designed plugins work absolutely correctly with our templates. We do get some conflicts when old versions of jQuery are used to power the plugins and our templates use Mootools. As for altering code, well that is almost inevitable these days, especially if you want to customise something.

We already have user friendly, we have our RocketLauncher which gives you a copy of the demo site in minutes (minus images for copyright purposes), we just haven't perfected the magic wand that does everything for you. :cheesy:

So personalising Kunena is a RocketTheme problem? (Even though we don't know the problem yet)

That is like buying a car you like, going to customise it and then realising that because you don't have the tools or experience then it must be the manufacturer's fault.

Unfortunately there are many unscrupulous people in the world. Some like to take club templates and give them away on Warez sites, usually after they have inserted some malicious code for search engine adverts etc.

If we didn't keep the forums for members then we would be swamped with requests from people who obtained our templates fraudulently.

Seeing as my crystal ball is away being mended how about you post back and tell us what the problem is so we can help you. 8)

      Thanks for your patience 8)

Seeing as how your website has been in place since November 2011 and the template is version 1.6.8 dated September 2012 and your membership was taken out today and 36 minutes later you make your first post then I guess you are right about someone not telling the truth.

This implies that you obtained the template fraudulently as we have no membership for you before today.

And you say you "feel taken" - looks more like we've been taken by you using our template when you had no right to do so. At least your current membership puts that right.

    • actually turning off "build title spans" in Gantry should help Kunena ...
(... without knowing what your issue is exactly)
