restricted index access on localhost

Hi Guys
I have purchased a joomla RT template, and am currently trying to install n localhost using xampp.
I cannot get it to work though. I have saved the joomla template rt_graffito in the htdocs folder in xampp.Which should now work when I try to access it via the browser as it works for my other sites.
I have been looking around the net though, trying tofind a solution, and havnt had much luck in the 1week that I have spent trying to resolve. I stumbled across some advice that said I should removethe line : defined( '_JEXEC' ) or die( 'Restricted index access' ); from the index.php file.. I have done this, and it gets rid of the "restricted index access" error that I see when trying to access the jomla rockettheme install, but now I just see a blank page, on viewing the page source, I find it to be empty and the error logs don't show me much either.
Can anyone please assist, I am eager to get started on working with the site.
