merging a customized 1.5 template to a new 2.5 template

- We are in the process f migrating our Joomla 1.5 site with the rocket theme template solar sentinel 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 with the new 2.5 solar sentinel template. I'm a complete newby and have been trying to figure this all out. I used Jupgrade and have downloaded and installed the new 2.5 template on the Jupgrade site and of course it looks totally different. I see where I have to go and basically reformat/rebuild the entire thing. The rocket theme tech assistance suggests that I use a merge program, but I am not sure how to merge customizations in a 1.5 template into a 2.5 template with out messing it up. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

For file merging, which is a software app that takes two folders/files and compares them for differences. You then select which lines of code you need copied from one file to the other. Here my preference is ExamDiff Pro -> http://www.prestosoft.com/edp_examdiffpro.asp
