SEO'd RocketTheme Template Code or Not

  • SEO'd RocketTheme Template Code or Not

    • I have been a RockeTheme fan for a few years now and I have an important question that comes up time and time again.

I see on other well known Joomla template websites that their Joomla templates are optimized out of the box. What I mean is, the code is arranged so that the content "middle" section is read first from top to bottom by bots rather and the left (or right) columns. Keep in mind I'm NOT referring to keywords, links, urls, etc.

QUESTION: Are RocketTheme templates coded optimized this way? I have not an article or section on the RocketTheme website addressing this at all.

Please explain further and direct me to a RockeTheme article or website page that talks more about this topic.

Thank you very much! Go RocketTheme! :)

    • To get an idea of how the template content is arranged, you only need to open a demo template and disable CSS in your browser (I will recommend firefox and web developer tool bar).

Thank you Hugo for your response. I tested your recommendation on a few demos on RT and other sites and I came up with some interesting results. Just to be clear, what you're saying is by disabling the all the CSS the results are as a white page with links/text only and the page should display all information in the order Google would "crawl" it, right?

      1) hotjoomlatemplates Clinic template -- when disabling all CSS only the menu shows up a raw information. No content of the three middle boxes. Why? This one also acted a little funny when my mouse was hovering over the text. The text kept jumping around for some reason.

      2) RT template demo.rockettheme.com/joomla/paradigm/ seemed to show all content in the correct order. Although it is a "single page" type design.

      3) RT template demo.rockettheme.com/joomla/hexeris/ also seems to do a decent job at arranging the code in an SEO order.

Is there an example website that you have come across that I could reference that is not good?

However, I'm still seeking this information from RocketTheme employee and a RT page that states this.

      Thank you.

    • Gantry is featuring a source-ordered 4 column main body system ...
Means in source-code the main-component area always comes before the sidebars.
But I'm not a RocketTheme employee ... just a moderator.

Thank you Henning! Is this mentioned anywhere on the RT website? If so, I'd like to read more about it.

    • There is not much to say about it.
It's source ordered. That's it --- columns are moved around position relative.
Just check the source code of the templates.

I wouldn't overrate it in terms of SEO.

    • In terms of source ordering and SEO, there are a lot of different opinions. Some people believe it is of some importance, some people believe it is not important at all. What may be clear is that these are only beliefs: there are no facts.

    • Actually its just a guess that the content of the article is more important than the content of a module ... in many cases the content of a module may be much more important than the one of the article displayed ...
