FrontEnd problem joomla 3.0

Hello.
I have a problem with joomla 3.0, after installing the template of rockettheme(Alerion), joomla doesnt put in the frontend the alerion template, (This template is downloaded from rockettheme). Instead, a demo template of joomla 3.0 shows.
What can i do to put my alerion template on the frontend?
every time i try to enter the configuration for the template in the template manager it gives me error "500: could not connect to resource" too.
I have joomla 3.0 version.
The template is 2.5 but i have gantry to adapt it.

- Did you assign the template to be the default one? Did you install Gantry framework?
