what is a good way for backing up the site and database ?

I have a site hosted on a server and i would like a way.. free plugin maybe, to backup the whole site and databases all at once in case of a hack i have a sort of time machine backup.
What do you suggest or use ? thanks

What cms are you using? The most popular backup for joomla and Wordpress is Akeeba backup.
