So basically I would make 3 templates, and all of the data will stay the same on the base site. Anyone have a best practice or best way to accomplish this ?
???
For that, you may wish to make multiple copies of your template and then assign them in the Template Manager to achieve that dynamic effect. You can do this by:
1. Download your template.
2. Copy the directory locally
3. Rename the folder
4. In the copies template folder, open templateDetails.xml
5. Edit the names to reflect the new folder name
6. Upload the directory to your /templates folder
7. Log into the Joomla! administrator at
www.yoursite.com
8. Go to Site > Template Manager > Site Templates
9. Find your copy and select the circular icon to the left
10. Now select Assign
11. Choose your menu item
thanks James, thats pretty much what I was planning on doing, but my question lies with what is the URL that I would use to change the template ? Using Joom SEF I was going to point it to each template URL. I guess my question is... what does the URL look like to change each template ?
I'm using 1.5 to try and achieve this but while I can pull up a page and specify a template for it using template=, the moment I click a link it reverts to the default template. Is there any way I can get this to carry through to all pages?
