    • Please please please please please help!

      I have spent two days trying to figure out why my site will not display the UK pound sign (£). I have tried EVERYTHING! Searched Google for hours, along with the Rockettheme forum, but cannot find anything specific.

      I have tried the £ along with the £ but neither of those work. Nothing works! My site, no matter what I do, simply will not display the £ symbol. Nightmare!!!

      I am running Joomla 1.5.6, along with the Hyperion template. Everything else on the site works perfectly. All of my Global (etc) settings are relevant to the UK.

      Please, someone, offer a working suggestion before I pull my hair out!

      Thanks for your response. The site is currently run locally (Wampserver), so I am unable to provide you with a direct link (sorry).
      I just wondered, have you ever heard of such a problem before? I am certain that there must be a simple explanantion for this, but I'm totally confounded!

    • After an incredible flash of inspiration I have managed to rectify the problem. Unbelievably, after countless hours of research, the issue turned out to be font-related (!!!). Upon setting up the site many weeks ago, I chose the “Optima” font family in the template properties. It was only by chance that I wondered, about twenty minutes ago, if my chosen font family was unable to display the £ sign. I went into Template Manager and changed the font family – voila! My £ signs automatically became visible on my site!

      For anyone else who may have this problem...

      GB pound signs don’t display under the Optima font family
