This may be pure coincidence but I thought I would ask to be on the safe side. I have a site that was hacked in august by a Turkish hacker. I was using the dimensions template at the time. Prior to using dimensions I had a starlight template from elsewhere on the net and it was fine.
I thought it was the joomla version so I upgraded to the latest version and switched it back to my starlight template. I upgraded again and then switched back to dimensions a few days later I got hacked again. I have made not changes to the site or the latest version that was already on there and switched back to my starlight template and its been a couple of weeks and it is fine. I am worried now that the site has only been hacked when dimensions was on it. Any ideas please.
You probably got "hacked" when you used Joomla 1.5.5 or 1.5.6. The so-called Turkish hackers are usually just script-kiddies who uses others work...
Anyway, i assume you have a clean backup with all your data so...
I would clean my database and completely reinstall the latest version of Joomla. Then i would import the database and other files. This shouldn't take long really
Yves mentioned a plugin some time ago that prevented people from accessing /administrator without a password but i can't find it right now.
Btw, i've never heard of a site being hacked because of a specific template. Hmm, i suggest you check your server for so-called root-kits if possible. Otherwise your webhost will need to check it.
Good luck!
