I'm looking at Mosets Tree for directory development. Is anyone aware of any compatibility issues? If not, is this an extension you recommend?

I hope to use Mosets Tree with the Mixxmag template and phpBB3.

thank you as always, nanci --

I've used it on this site. I found it extremely easy to figure out, and even non-web types were able to figure it out with just a few minutes of instruction.

When purchasing, you also get access to a private support forum where the developer answers your queries personally (usually in less than 24 hours).

The biggest negative I found with this component is that it currently works in 1.5 using legacy mode. That said, they've got a pure 1.5 component incoming (the Joomla directory is using the 1.5 native version already, but it's not yet available publicly).

Another issue is that in the Versatility IV template, the component seems to 'drop down' about halfway down the page in IE6. There's a fix on these boards somewhere (I only have the link to the old RT site). The fix has something to do with wrapping your component in a table (in your index.php file). If you have this issue in mixmax, do a search and you should find that thread somewhere.

      Good luck!

    • Oh my. Tell me you didn't do all those entries by hand?

Looks like Mosets Tree is perfect. Maybe I will drop them a line and see if they know or expect to release the new one. Other than that, I think it is exactly what I need.

Thank you so much for the information and for sharing the link. IT was in-fact uncanny how similar our categories were. It certainly gives me some confidence in doing what it is I am up to. Except now I'm hungry after browsing through your links. :o

I've got phpBB3 installed and setup... just waiting for the new template. I've been installing one thing at a time so that if there are conflicts they will be easier to pin-point. I have also installed jomsocial and am working with that. Have some styling to do there and of course general setup. My only concern with jomsocial is the styling. Not for one style... but for 10. Probably smarter to do something generic that will go with all. We'll see... But, it would be cool if the style for jomsocial changed along with their choice for the rest of the site.

      Again, thank you, nanci --

Heh... unfortunately, we did do all of those entries by hand. Luckily, I had a team of administrative boffins at my disposal, so it wasn't too bad. 8)

That said, Mtree has a CSV import function. If you know anything about Excel spreadsheets (I don't), you might be able to figure out how to import your data with a few clicks (assuming you have your listings in an excel file already).

I'm waiting for the Mixmag phpBB3 template also. Should be good. One issue I see is that Jomsocial doesn't yet integrate with phpBB3. I've heard rumors that they're working on it, but until then, it might be kind of awkward to have your community component not integrated with your forum board.

In fact, without phpBB3 integration, I don't really see much use for Jomsocial. :?:

Anyway, best of luck with your project!
