Split Menu - Horizontal Bar, Not sidebar - How?

Hi
I have the Mixxmag main menu (horizontal bar - upper right) configed to show sections
I have it set to split menu in the template parameters
I want the categories to show in another horizontal bar below the main menu, just like Terran Tribune
Is this a coding change?
Would someone please advise how to do this?

Messing with the menu functions takes a great deal of work. I don't know of an answer here that would be anywhere close to quick and easy without re-writting the menu and template code.
One easier option is to use separate menus and just assign each one to it's respective main menu item. Then you can have each one only show on that main menu item page. If you do this and publish them to something like the "Breadcrumb" or "Featured" position and don't have the right column published, you could use a horizontal setup there. It would give the same look without re-writting the template.
