Installation problem

  • Installation problem

Posted 16 years 1 week ago
    • I downloaded and installed Hyperion to the owner of the site's host on the yahoo servers. There are a couple of problems (that I am assuming) are being caused from their Apache configuration. But when I speak to their tech support they don't support Joomla or RocketTheme... So I spoke to the owner of the domain and suggested moving his domain to my host. But I wanted to test the installation on my domain in a directory to make sure everything works and because my tech support guys support just about anything you throw at them.

I tried to install hyperion into a test folder but it isn't installing the sample data. I just get an hourglass and a blank Joomla page. I don't understand what is wrong...

    • Check the memory limit of your host's php.ini file, it should be 32MB or more.

Some hosts start you off with 4-8MB, this can choke your install sometimes.

Also, how was the pre-installation check, any red flags?

    • Actually... yes... there were 3... the permissions on the config file... and 2 in the bottom section... i don't remember off the top of my head... but i think it was the global one.. and the 2nd from the top of the bottom list... (i don't remember...and can't go back and check because my tech guys worked on it until he got it installed.

but now i have another problem...whenever i try to chmod the params.ini file... and then change the style... it the script changes it back to unwritable without changing to the style i want it to be.

i also just went into Help>System Info> Directory Permissions and saw that almost all of them listed in there were unwritable... is that normal?

I need to get this up pretty quickly... otherwise I'll be risking losing a client.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    • How are you trying to change the file permissions, CPanel, or FTP client?

If you're trying with one, try the other.

    • I tried with the FTP client and the host tech did it with SSH...
Both times... Joomla kept changing it back to unwritable after trying to set the Style what i wanted.

    • The 'unwriteable' message is something that happens with Joomla all the time, not really the fault of the template.

If the style changes, then you have nothing to worry about.
