    Root install vs Non-root install

Posted 15 years 11 months ago
    • Hi,

We are currently upgrading to j1.5 where our current joomla 1.08 resides in the root of the webserver.

      Here are my questions

What is the best method of install/upgrade

1)create a folder in the root and install the base there. If so why would this be a better choice?
      2) re-install in the root keeping it the same as our current. If so why would this be a better choice?

As our J1.08 is somewhat crippled because of hacking, we are not upgrading and rather are pulling out data (house cleaning in a way) and re-formating it to the new 1.5 with the latest RT/VM template.

Our pr was at pr3, but as the site is crippled it dropped to pr1 recently. We know the new site using j1.5 should in fact up our pr rating once installed and sniffed out.

Any thoughts to this would be greatly appreciated
