Display frontpage component parameter clashes with JomSocial

Posted 15 years 5 months ago
    • I know I posted this earlier but it no longer appears. So I am posting again.

I am using your Mixmag template. I also use JomSocial as my social network component. I have found that the display frontpage component parameter when set to Hide causes JomSocial's frontpage to not display. I spoke with JomSocial support and this is their response:
You rockettheme template uses a template override which will not show any mainBody element for URL's with 'frontpage' in it.

At first, it is meant to only block com_content from appearing at frontpage, but also at the same time clashes with other component that has 'frontpage' in its URL.

Please consult with Rockettheme to ensure that only 'com_content's' frontpage is blocked instead of any url with 'frontpage'.

As mentioned by mark, this works well
      tisklife.com/index.php?option=com_community
      but not this link:
      tisklife.com/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=49 <-- with a frontpage phrase in it.

Please advise me on how to correct this conflict. Thanks in advance.

      Steve

    • Yes, it has expired. Are you telling me that I won't be able to receive help without membership for a product that I already paid for and that without membership I cannot see what help I may receive from RocketTheme because you have moved my question to an area of the site that I do not have access too? That does not seem right.

Could you clear this matter up as I really do need the conflict I am experiencing with RocketTheme's template resolved.

      Thank you.

    • So what you are basically telling me without telling me is that if I want help I need to PAY for it. I really don't think that is fair considering I already paid once for the template and should receive at minimum one year of support with that purchase. The problem here is that why should I have to pay RocketTheme support to help me on an issue that is arising because of their design/coding of their template. Is there someone else that I could speak with and not through the forum?

    • Hiding the frontpage and having components such as JomSocial and Virtuemart are mutually exclusive. You cannot possible have both.

Both components require the frontpage there and active to operate and if you disable it, you are out of luck.

    • Amandeep, Prim, and James S!,

I would like to say Thank You for NOT helping me. Thankfully Azrul/JomSocial understands that the customer is ALWAYS First and their support team fixed YOUR template. In fact their fix also extends to VirtueMart. Do I really need to mention that their fix went well beyond their support scope - yeah, I guess I do. Oh and did I mention that they did it for FREE.

RocketTheme could learn a lot from companies like Azrul/JomSocial and others that know the customer is ALWAYS First. Without us you have no business.

      Sincerely,

      Steve Bonilla
