Help required with editing joomla

Hi there
This going to be a noobish question I know. But I've now spent 3 weeks hitting my head against a brick wall and decided it's time to ask for help.
First things first:
I'm using Joomla 1.5.10
php 5.2.10
RT template - Hyperion
Pre-launch building ground: http://www.minus1mod.com/test/Joomla/index.php
The one issue I face at the moment and hoping it will be my last as I feel fairly confident with everything else.
On the home page http://www.minus1mod.com/test/Joomla/index.php
There is a section in the central zone titled recent news.
under there is an article titled Introducing Hyperion. When I un-publish this article, the site goes to a error 404. I have looked at the article to see anything that might suggest something special and I see nothing. The article is listed without category or section - all other settings are the same as other items that I have un-published.
What I do see different is when I check the modules - this article doesn't have a module.

If it doesn't have a module, how do I remove it, or edit it so that I can add more articles under this section?

- Joomla needs to have at least one article published on the frontpage AFAIK. There are some hacks for Joomla that lets you disable this. The info can be found on the Joomla forum or somewhere on our own forum.
