Hello Phishy,
I have checked your backend and the contents, like I have said above, you have many improper tags like shown in the validator site.
For example you open <font size="2> but there's no close tag </font>, etc
Please check all your contents again.... I am sorry I can't check it all for you. If you have cleared all the error shown here , I am sure it will looks okay in IE too.
Please try to turn off the editor or you can try another better wysiwyg editor like JCE instead of the default tinymce

- I think sometimes the editor creates that improper tags, for example you implement multiple style like font color, font size with the editor.

The wierd thing is I haven't changed any of the articles on he bottom half of the site, yet they have increased in size, plus the module titles like polls is massive and I haven't changed them.
In fact up until 5 days ago it was fine, then of its own accord changed the size of the text in the lower half of the site!
Could it possibly be a bug? Sorry just finding it hard to blame the editor when the articles at top our fine.

I am very sure you must have made changes on some of the articles within that 5 days. It's also hard to said that the validation here is wrong
This is not a bug on the template not the Joomla. If it's the bug with the template, you will see the same problem on our demo site too. The problem is located in your contents

The only thing I changed where the different fonts in the news updates articles and they are displaying correctly, but the rest which where not touched then became huge and massive. So does that mean that it is the news update tags that are incorrect which wreck the rest of it below ?

So please check again all the contents you changed the font size
