The Infamous KB927917 - HTML Paring error in IE8

Posted 15 years 8 months ago
    • Dear friends

Please don't be angry once you have read this post:)
I am sure you heard about the KB927917 error before and before you think "oh - that's one of those again" please take a minute time to check out the whole post.

Problem -> I'm too stupid to figure out how to make a workaround to this problem.

Observation -> The KB927917 is tricky and it seems to be based on conflicts between modules etc. (something with JavaScript, container problem). I searched the internet for solutions for 3 days now, printed tons of papers, tried to fix it in 100 different ways and prayed to god and hell for a solution. The solutions either consisted of "turning off some modules until it works again". This is not a solution in my case since that would mean redesigning the whole website.
Or often the solution was based on very specific modules where it could be fixed.

      WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?
Since I have the problem with several modules and I can't find a solution for those specific modules I want to turn the focus away from the modules and ask for a workaround to make IE8 accept my website.

I can put it like this -> Since FireFox, Crome etc don't have any problems showing the website how can we make a workaround to make IE8 also show the website?

Pragmatic approach ->I am not saying that the failure is not there only because FF ant others can show the website, but the big question is HOW TO MAKE IE8 BEHAVE like FF, Crome etc. in case of the infamous KB927917-error.

Do you have any idea on how to make IE8 generally accept the HTML parsing error?

      Here is my specific problem:
IE8 stops loading once it comes to the module where I have an embedded video. I use AllVideo and UCD to show the video inside a module on the frontpage.
      1. Modules which do not work: Coundown, AllVideo (inside a module with the UCD plugin), Simple Image Gallery inside a module (again with the UCD plugin).
      2. I tried to change the "domwait" with the "load" function
      3. I tried another plugins for replacement for the UCD.

If you are the first to come up with a solution for my problem I'll be happy to sent you a little treat from Denmark as a thanks:)

So, what kind of info do you need from me?
Should I cange something in the respective .js files from allVideo and simple image gallery or the UCD?

      Best regards,
      Viggo

    • Dear prim

      tnx for the quick reply.

I'm afraid I need just another kick to understand what I am supposed to do (sorry, I don't know much about javascript):

      1. I cannot find any javascript inside the body-tag. Am I totally wrong?

      2. I tried to copy the content of rt_head_includes after the </body>-tag but it didn't solve the problem.

Any idea af what I might be doing wrong?

I appreciate your time and effort:)
