I've started creating a custom 404 error page for my webiste using these directions
http://docs.joomla.org/Custom_error_pages
but I got stuck at step 2 of Using Theme Header and Footer on Standard Error Page where they call for you to edit the index.php and replace <jdoc:include type="component" /> but this line dose not exist. Im using the affinity template, can anyone give me steps to make a custom 404 page that looks like my affinity template... Step by Step would be wonderful or point me in the right direction. Thanks!
Ok I guess because it seems like there are a ton of diff. ways to do this I get confused..... They say create an article, that I understand but how do i put menu options into a article? Also how do I link that article so it's pulled when someone uses the error 404 page? I'm very new to Joomla and PHP so if someone was borde and wanted to really "break it down Barney style" pretend I'm a 6 year old I would greatly appreciate it!
YakAngler, I think this needs a bit work and tutorial from some links like
docs.joomla.org/Custom_error_pages
and discussion in Joomla about this
forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=469&t=267189
will help you a lot. I have replied you back the location of the code you wanted. So, just follow the rest of the steps in the tutorial.
I also think this inquiry is more suitable posted in the Joomla forum since this is not the template bug, but more related to customization work. Alternatively, you can also post this in
The MarketPlace
forum.
