[Solved!]Frontpage slideshow (Versatility 4) display problem

Posted 15 years 1 month ago
    • Hi All,

My frontpage slideshow suddenly started to not appear correctly.
Please have a look here: www.catareos.com

The stripe with small icons which is supposed to be at the bottom of the images is now at the top, over the images and shows only between the display of 2 images then disappears when the image shows.

If it was only this, I guess it would be ok, but usually after the display of 2 or 3 pictures, it shows no image anymore. See image attached.
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

I noticed the problem yesterday March 8th, so I completely re-uploaded my website files from a backup I made 8 days before thinking it would solve the problem, but it didn't.

      Can anyone please help ?
      Thanks in advance,

      Carine

    • Hello,

This looks correct in FF. What browser is having this issue?

      Cheers

      Hey Sean,
      Thanks for replying.
I have the problem in Opera, FF, IE and Chrome...
Sometimes 3 or 4 images will be displayed and then it stops...

Plus, now the whole bottom of my front page has disappeared... (!)

I had been doing a lot of drag and drop of files (for example for the 3 images that you can see on my screenshot and which are gone now) from through FTP just before I noticed the change...

I think I will re-upload my latest files (which I had saved just before reuploading the old ones) at least to have the other files up-to-date, and because obviously the pb is not there...

I thought it might be somewhere in the configuraiton of the slideshow, but now that other elements of the front page have disappeared I really don't know what to think...

Thanks if you can think of something !

      Cheers

    • Hey Sean, Thanks for following up.

The reload didn't put things back in place...

However, I just thought the pb might be in the configuration of the module, so I went there, and remembered I once deactivated (in the "Global display parameters") the display of "read more"...
I just put it back on "inherit from slide's setting", and, miracle, the bottom of my front page re-appeared.... Which doesn't make sense, but well...

NOW I still have the initial problem of:
      - the "small icon bottom banner" not showing as and where it should.
      - the sliding not acting right.

I would assume there is something wrong in the configuration again, but where... ?
If the reason is the same as for the bottom of the page, I doubt it will be anything logical...

      Cheers,
      Carine

    • Yoo hoo !
Just found the problem !!! :D

One of the elements of my slideshow had a text too long to fit, and this is what apparently provoqued the display failure !!!

Thanks again Sean for your support, I might not have persevered if I didn't feel backed up!!
