Is there a way to prevent this from occurring?? Is there an upgrade or a patch to help prevent these bots from registering to my site?? See image. I get these fairly regularly. Thanks for any tips.

If I use another registration plugin, will i lose all my current registrants?? I'm thinking of this plugin/module...thoughts??

Take a look on the JED on joomla.org.
Search for CAPTCHA, and look for a CAPTCHA component that integrates with the Joomla core registration form, there are several.
(There are also several that are separate registration component that are separate from the Joomla core - the one you provided a link to looks like one of those - so remember what to look for, something that adds functionality to the core component.)
Adding one of these components will add CAPTCHA functionality to your registration form, but in no way will affect your current user DB. - Thanks,

I guess I am not understanding how to do it. I tried a couple different ones and nothing worked!! Could you recommend one or two that I could use that is fairly easy to set up?? I hate spam!!!

This one replaces the Joomla registration component and is highly configurable:

What I'll probably do is wait until 1.6 is available and stable then just upgrade since it is supposed to have a Captcha function.
