Use template color in my E-Mail Form ?!

Posted 14 years 4 months ago
    • Hi Rockettheme,

on my website, which is based on the Grunge Template, I use Chronoforms to create my Contact forms.

When I creat a radio box, or a check box, than you can not see it (only the text, no fields to click on it).

How can I change the templatecolor to see my form normally?

Here my conversation with the ChronoForms Support:
      Hi Andreas,

I'm sure that there is an option for that, please try to ask the Rockettheme support, there is an option for that checkbox effect some where in all Rockettheme templates

      Regards,
      Max

      Hi Max,

sorry, but I can not find an option in my template settings(... I use the gantry system from Rockettheme).
Can I set the "normal" chronoform style in my form? - Especially for the radio buttons or the check boxes?

      Best

      Andreas

      Hi Andreas,

Yes, the template adds strange effect to the checkboxes/radios, this must be disabled, I think you may have some option to disable this at the template settings edit page, please check it and let me know

      Regards,
      Max

Could it be a problem caused by our templatecolor-integration?

      Please check:

    • Whoops. Sorry, didn't see that in the original post for some reason. It's not the template color that's wrong, it's the styling of the radio button input elements. I don't think this issue has anything to do with the RocketTheme template at all. I'm pretty sure it's entirely a ChronoForms issue. For some reason, the radio button elements are being styled as "position:absolute; left:-10000px;" which puts them about 9500 pixels off of the left hand side of the screen. This isn't being done by CSS, but by JavaScript when the page loads. You'd be able to see them if you had a 60 inch monitor with 21,000 lines of vertical resolution. I read on the ChronoForms website that they use JavaScript to style form elements, which (in my opinion) is not the right way to do it, and is probably causing the problem that you're having. I tried to locate the source of the problem, but I'm not a very proficient JavaScript debugger, and I don't have time to go through all 32,977 JavaScript calls that your page fires every time it loads. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    • Hi!
I contacted the ChronoForm Support again... here is the answer:

"Can you please fix the form name ? please replace the - with _

      then please open this link:
      web.street-magazine.de/index2.php?option...spiel_nitro&Itemid=4

and update the form name in the link of course!

You will find that the radios work fine, it's not a Chronoforms issue, It's a JS issue as he said maybe, but I think this JS is loaded by either the template OR some module/plugin in your website

How to find it ? try to switch your theme to the default Joomla theme and test the form, if its fine then its the template, if not then try to switch off some modules/plugins

I think the plugin causing this issue is called "rokbox" or something like that, its something made by Rockettheme, believe me, they are doing this thing all the time, I can't understand how they tell that it's not their problem!!"

      Please could somebody help me?
I switched off the RokModules... but I have the same problem.... I think it depends on the template settings!?

    • Well, it looks like I was wrong again. But man, this guy is a real pud. I don't work for RocketTheme or ChronoForms and I'm being way more helpful then him. He should get a job with BP or Haliburton or Transocean. He's basically saying "It's not my fault that my software conflicts with other software that you use. Deal with it." It's like selling somebody a part for their car and then blaming the buyer when the part doesn't fit. Way to pass the buck, eh?

Well, the buck stops here. Go into ChronoForms Forms Manager and click on the name of the form that you're having trouble with. Under the "General" tab, the second box of parameters is called "Core/View Form Settings." Find the option "Load Chronoforms CSS/JS Files?" and change it to "No." Now save your changes and reload the page with the form on it. If this solves your problem, write another email to that guy and tell him he's a jerk. If it doesn't solve your problem, write him an email and tell him he's a jerk.

    • ok... I tried to switch off the "Load Chronoforms CSS/JS Files" but still I have the same problem.

I ask the Chronoform support again:

      Hi,

Yes, I tried it... but when I deactivate my rokbox-plugins, than I have the same issue...
when I change the template, than I see the radio box!

But the site looks awful without my template/without rokbox... so do you have an idea?

also I changed the name of the formular... but it didn't solve my problem.
When I click on the right side of the radio-option, than my "i"-Wizzard tool tip jump a little bit / give a reaction... is it possible to make it visible with a colorchange?

oh... is it possible to start the formular in a lightbox when I click a picture??????? So we could find a compromise!?

      Best Andreas

      The answer:

      Hi Andreas,

When you switch the template you can see the radio box ? then it's the template causing this problem, you have to tell this to the Rockettheme guys now, so they know they are geniuses! :)

I'm sure that there is some setting some where to turn off the radio box effect added by the template, only them know how to find it :(
      "

Is anyone there how could help me to solve such a simple problem?

      Please!

      Best

    • Did you tell him he's a jerk? I think that would solve all your problems. But I digress. The issue becomes, do you want to use your template styling (which is optional), or do you want to be forced to use his styling, which, in my opinion, isn't very flattering to the eye? I'll stick up for the RocketTheme folks 8 days a week. Their code is much more elegant and thoroughly tested than almost anything else I've seen out there. And their design runs circles around the ChornoForms styling.

      Anyway, try this:
Go to "Extensions -> Template Manager" and click on your template name. Then under the "Parameters" list on the right-hand side fo the window, scroll all the way down to the group labeled "Advanced." There should be a parameter called "INPUT STYLING." Turn that off. Tell that guy he's a jerk, and certainly not a genius.
