Rokbox2 thumbnails cropped not resized

Our client has an issue with rokbox, since upgrading to (2.0.13) the generated thumbnails are cropped not resized down to size: see example

"frogsautumn16_thumb.jpg" and "frogsbanner_thumb.jpg" are cropped in the generated thumbnail but OK in the original. I have deleted and re-generated the thumbnail and tried both the old (legacy) and new syntax but still have the same issue. I have looked at the options in the plugin but nothing seems to relate to this.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
