    Lost in Translation

Posted 13 years 7 months ago
    • Hi Jakub -

I have installed the Afterburner WP theme on a new site. As the site is in Danish, I have updated the template language file as per your instructions using Poedit. I then uploaded the .po and .mo files (da_DK) to the template folder, but nothing is happening?

I then tried removing the original "afterburner.po" file to see if that made any difference. No luck. Everything still shows in English.

I have checked the wp-config file and the language code is correct (and matched to the .po and .mo file name in the template folder).

I'm sure this is something silly I'm missing - but I just can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

The site is fysionettet.dk although it is closed at the moment. If you need into the backend, I can send you login details.

      Thanks,
      Chris

    • Hi Chris,

Have you downloaded translated Danish WordPress from da.wordpress.org/ or the english one ? Is your admin also in english or Danish ?

      Jakub

    • Hi Jakub -

Yes, I downloaded the Danish version [wordpress-3.0.1-da_DK.zip]. The WP admin is also in Danish, but the template (Afterburner) admin is still in English (even though I translated the entire language file in Poedit).

      All the best,
      Chris

    • Hi again -

Is this a problem with having the WP installed in Danish?

      Thanks,
      Chris

    • Hi Chris,

Can you please attach me the .mo file you created ? I'll test in on my local.

      Thanks
      Jakub

    • Hi Jakub -

I'd be happy to, although I can't seem to find where I can add an attachment file here?

      All the best,
      Chris

    • You should be able to attach files after clicking on "Post reply" and not by using quick post field :)

    • Oops! OK, here's the file ...

I got the message "The extrension mo is not allowed", so I've zipped it.

      Thanks again,
      Chris

    • Hi,

I found the issue :) Your filename is da_DA.mo and should be da_DK.mo Please change the filename and everything should be fine :)

      Thanks
      Jakub

    • Hi Jakub -

      Good grief!

Sometimes it is hard to see the wood for the trees. Thanks very much for you assistance (and eagle eye!). Everything works now as it should.

Please note that you are very welcome to offer the Danish language file as you wish.

      Thanks again,
      Chris
