Category image and description not showing

I am using the nebulae template and constructing a site using the localhost configuration. I have a menu item that leads to a category list. Despite being set to show the category descriptions and images, neither display. All that is displayed are the text titles of the categories. Is this a known issue?
Any help very much appreciated.
