Is the newer framework for gantry not taking a liking to any third party security tools for joomla! 2.5.1?
Anything Rok-related and Akeeba Backup seem to be about the only things that are working with the newer version. I try installing RSFirewall and it renders my templates gantry (backend editing) useless. It just calls up a blank page. Purging cache for everything brings no change. Another one is jSecure (yes... as current as it gets) which will produce the very same results. The list seems to go on and on. I have only found Rok-related and Akeeba Backup to be the only ones that work flawlessly with the backend.
I have gzip disabled.. purge caches... all modules up-to-date... I can't think of anything else. I have installed and uninstalled one by one to see that it is indeed most third party components causing issues. In the past (j.1.5 and/or passing Gantry frameworks) I have had no such conflicts.
Is this a known bug in the latest Gantry? Or should I do copious amounts of footwork to "try" and "contact" multiple developers in the hopes that they will care enough to look things over to try and make things work with either the RT themes or Gantry?
Please let me know. I may be the only one with this issue I just don't know. I do know that paid for time and support on these components and all seems to be on this end.
Hi, I can't say for sure, I haven't tried any of the software you mentioned. Nowhere do we promise that Gantry will work with all third party components. Both of the components you mentioned are commercial products, we simply do not have the resources to test all third party components, especially commercial components which require us to purchase them.
We have no control over how third party developer code or make their products, and they most certainly are not considering what we make as a basis for their products. If there is a conflict, we would need to know more details, error messages ECT, to even offer a suggestion.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
Oh, don't get me wrong I certainly did read the fine print and am aware that is not a guarantee that third party components will work with either the templates or gantry.
I was just wondering if this issue had been received through the ears of RT staff.
Going through the process of what the actual errors are is not my top priority atm. It really isn't a bother so long as I complete the actual style layout in Gantry and then install these components. All they effect is the very backend of the process.
It is certainly plausible that the issues at hand are with the newer Gantry and third party components which as you said, is way behind RT support scope.
Thanks for your response Cliff.

Jason
PS: Love Colorado by the way. I stayed outside of Castle Rock for awhile.
No worries, just explaining the situation. My point is I wouldn't define this as a bug. It would be great if all Joomla extensions played nice together, but it's just not reality unfortunately.
We certainly want to help, but we have to take these issues on a case by case basis. Sometimes if we can see the error there might be a quick fix, or we might not be able to fix it at all, it just depends on the situation. Occasionally, you'll just have to choose which extension is more important to your project and use something else to get the job done.

Once I have finished the majority of the wifes site I think I will ( I know I will ) look into any errors that may be coming up in the logs. For now I can simply blacklist the 3rd party extensions if I need to access the gantry and allow them once I am done making any changes. It's only a minor annoyance.. nothing major and for all I know.. it could be the server I am on that is causing this.
