Assigning different layouts to different menu items

Hello,
can't work out how to change the page layout and design for different menu items. It seemed to be easier in the earlier versions of Gantry but in the new one I cant work it out.
Any help would be appreciated.

you need to create new template styles and assign them to different menu-items.
this has replaced the per-menu-item-technique.
Overall it's easier because its a CORE JOOMLA feature now.

but when I go to menu assignmnet in the back of Joomla, I can't get the copied template to appear as an option to choose.
Does RT have a tutorial section around this theme. Can't seem to find anywhere which explains it.

you need to copy a template style (J 2.5) ... not the template itself ...
Actually that is no special gantry feature ... it's a joomla core thing.
You can assign the style in the templates-settings (assign) or in the menu-item ...
