Gantry 4 Template Overrides

    • I would like my home page to have no sidebar column. All other pages I would like to have sidebar-a on the left.

I am having trouble creating the template style override.

I created a 2nd template style and assigned it to the home page.

I then go to the layout tabe in the new template style, check the box to override the main body posistions and click save and then close.

When i go back to the template style layout tab, the settings are not saved.

Any thoughts? Have I overlooked anything?

      Thanks! -- Steven

    • Check your permissions. And have you compared home and other pages does it work? The template manager always initially shows as if homepage.

    • Not sure if it is permissions.

When I go to this screen and check the different areas to be an overrived only some are saved when the page is reloaded.

Here the page will all items checked

I clicked save and you can see how only some are saved.

Would this be related to permissions?
Can anyone else reproduce this issue?

    • Just realized I may have posted this in the wrong forum.

Is this more of a Gantry 4 issue or would it be a Kirigami issue?

      Thanks!

    • I see why there not saving - because they're no different to the default - so what would be the point - you're not overriding anything.

i note your style override called home is actially assigned to the home page AND another page (is that what you intended?)

Going back to you original request to remove the sidebar from the home page.... All I have done is open the home style override template copy. tick the box next to main body and change the number of positions to 1. Then Save. Now the home page (and the other page) no longer have a sidebar-a.

I hope i understood you correctly.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Thanks for the reply and info.

I am a little confused but starting to understand.

      1. When you have an override template is it comparing against the original default or against any changes you may have made to the master copy?

      2. I can not get the changes to stick, my main body area is only 9 units wide, when I uncheck check the overrideboxes, click save, then close, then come back to the page they are still checked.

      3. What browser are you using? I have tried chrome and firefox both with the same results.

      4. Do I need to be clearing the gantry cache after each save?

      Thanks! -- Steven

    • I was able to make one template override stick.

If i check the mainbody override box, I can successfully move the template from the left to the right side and have the change "stick".

If I set the mainbody to only one column then the change does not "stick"

      Can you reproduce this?

    • Not sure if you are going to look at this now.

I am reviewing the site with the client. If you could hold off from any changes for 2 hours from this post.

      Thanks! -- Steven
