Curious why Gantry dropped the Navigation position?

    • Just curious why Gantry dropped the Navigation position?
I find it crippling to the header area.

Drawer -> for the occasional slide out position. news, updates. etc.
Top -for the top navigation area. ie login - contact - support - call us - etc.
      header - logo and search
      Navigation - main navigation.
There really needs to be 4 available header positions.

IMHO - The Navigation position should be available for the main navigation.
Does this have something to do with the way the navigation changes in responsive mode?

      Thanks,
      William

    • I agree about the missing navigation row.

I see that it can be added but then every time the template is upgraded, I have to remember to make the changes to the template again. If I understand the process correctly.

Just curious as to the reasoning it was removed?

      Thanks! -- Steven

Re: [gantry-joomla-user] Gantry 4.0.1 Navigation position

it has been dropped from the default Gantry template because it's not needed. Module positions are defined per-template, so any template that has that position defined, will have it available. Also if you want you can add it back:

      Cheers

    • Thanks to Nanci and Henning for responses.
@Steven - Roswell is a nice and strategic location. I live in North Cumming above Lake Lanier. Commute to office by Cumberland twice a week and to the ATL airport every week! Brutal Commutes!

    • Thanks to everyone for the replies

I would love to see the navigation position added back

Here is how I use gantry:

Drawer - Great for any slideout info
Top - Great for any first level information, such as a banner add
Header - logo (on the left) Search & Small top menu (on the right)
      Navigation - main navigation.
ShowCase -- Great for a page by page display of important information

Wih this setup I can use the header in a 2 column setup and the showcase can be as many as it needs. I keep the navigation position as one column so the menu has plenty of room.

I understand I can add the module position. The issue is when new gantry template versions are released. I then have to remember to reapply the changes.

Any chance this module position could be added back?

      Thanks! -- Steven
