    4.1.6, 4.1.7 & 4.1.8 Template menu assignments not working

    • The 4.1.6 Gantry update isn't allowing for individual template assignments. If I assign a template to a top level item, that assignment stays with the submenu items assigned to another template. Guess I need to back off the last update to 4.1.5. It worked then.

    • Guess I should have put down system info:

      Joomla 2.5
      Template - Kirigami

      Taking the system back to 4.1.5 fixed the issue.

    • Still having the issue. Now 4.1.8 and still the problem.

      After making a bunch of installs and re-installs, I think I know what the issue is.

      If I assign the template to a parent item, the template is retained with the child. Even though I do not have the child assigned. 4.1.5 allowed this, but these latest versions don't. I do have URL rewriting on. So, "products/" and the child "products/example" retain the top level directory. Somehow the assignment isn't picking this up anymore.

      Back to 4.1.5

    • hi there,

      one of our devs got back to us with the following comment:
      The proper behavior right now is for a menu items selected option to cascade down to its children. We are looking at ways to limit this but right now this is the expected behavior.

    • Thanks Kat, but it is a bit funny that 4.1.5 works the other way. I'll have to stay with this version on this site until something changes.

      I know it is hard to please everyone with all the possibilities that can be in web development. This is a special case.
