Uncaught exception: String could not be parsed as XML

- The front page of the website shows up as a standard offline message, as expected, when in offline mode (set in the Global Configuration section). When in online mode, though, the only thing that appears at the web site is the message, "Uncaught exception: String could not be parsed as XML." I searched around in the forums, and there seems to be several instances of this error, all of which suggest the solution is to update joomla and gantry or reinstall gantry. I've updated and reinstalled gantry, but the error is still there. The site had been up and running fine for over a year when this error started. Any help is appreciated!

hi ruya,
thank you for this post. i have checked your site and under > site > system information, it tells me that your joomla version is 2.5.1 which is wayyyy out of date. the latest version is 2.5.14.
what was the joomla version you had previously installed if you say you just updated?
please also check > extensions > extensions manager > manage and search for any rockettheme extension. they are all dated from 2012 and even 2011, so they are out of date too.
the enigma template is version 1.2, the latest one is 1.7 though.
i am not sure if updating all of these will solve your issue, but it's definitely something you should start with and then we can check again.

Thanks for the reply.
I did not update joomla recently, just gantry. I was relying on the joomla updater which is still telling me my joomla is up to date! Yikes! I will work on these updates and get back to you.
