    Posted 11 years 2 months ago
    • I'm sorry, I do not know in which category I put this question.

      RT template to display the date - excellently!
      Baut as the easiest way I can put a very small image (icon) before the date on the page template?

      Best Regards!

    • You shouldpost in the relevant template forum...

      Could you please post a URL to your site (this can be done in the secure area tab if you prefer) so we can look for you. Without a link to page where the problem is on your site it is quite hard for us to provide the best solution due to so many variables. We try to provide file names and line numbers for code changes and if changes have already been made then our advice may be incorrect.

      Please do a screengrab of your problem and annotate to make it clear.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Use this code...
      .date-block .date:before {
          content: url("yoururltoyourimagegoeshere");
      }

      I notice that you have renamed our template - this is a bad idea since it will make taking updates very difficult for you. Also, most members forget to change the inherent content of all the necessary XML files to make the template work correctly when they do this - which leads to errors. We cannot support a renamed template - most of the MODS will ask you to restore the original template name before assisting you with error you may have.

      Regards, Mark.

    • It works!. Thank you for your prompt and effective assistance.

      In those changed the name of the template RT.
      I understand and thank you. You're right, this raises various problems that I experienced firsthand.
      Explain why I use this feature of Joomla!
      1. A new copy of the template is done from the manager of Joomla! Tempaltes.
      After selecting the template you select the option copy selected template. Joomla! creates a new copy of the template in a new folder with a new name. This is a standard feature of Joomla! according to me very much needed.

      2. Why am using this function in spite of troubles? (because of stubs in this regard templates as RT has trouble with it — as I noticed.)
      a. Sometimes new stykl is not enough. Sometimes it needs a new master to the part of the site differing standard.
      b. The new style is not enough that I could actually customize the site to your needs. I need a new master to the part of the site differing standard. There are no other options on options, create a new copy of the template.
      c. Additional effect is the new name of the template, which is uncommon. Custom Joomla! is a very good feature because it is part of a policy of defense against network attacks. "Each" kid in school wants to raise their grades in his "breaking" to the Joomla! is a very good training ground. :( Any action outside the Template or standard allows a little bit to be more peaceful. ;(

      Do you have explained the use of the factory options in Joomla!? :)

      Best Regards!

    • I can't think of any reasons to duplicate the template for anything that you can't do with just the one template. Yes, tha facility exists within joomla to use it - but, my advice is don't - it will give you nothing but issues and they will be very hard to track down.

      I can't see why you would need multiple MASTER copies of the same template - what you have described is what OVERRIDE copies are for.

      Template name is the very least of your worries with regards to hackers - a template name change won't stop them or slow them down at all - you should use something like Akeeba Admin Tools to keep hackers out and prevent them from switching templates.

    • Thank you for the hint. Thank you for the hint. Each additional method is also good. For me, the basic thing is to remove the standard Joomla! templates to avoid satndards paths.

      One of the reasons for backup template is another modification of the CSS template and other tree master the styles template.

    • You absolutely should NOT be changing any of our original templates files - therefore, again, this is no reason to duplicate the template. Everything can be done in a single custom CSS file (unless browser specific).

    • I'm sorry and thank you for your answers. I am not convinced it.
      Here's a link to the documentation Joomla!
      docs.joomla.org/J3.2:Modifying_a_Joomla!_Template
      if the template can not be copied because of errors, ie that it is well made with the specifications of Joomla???

      Eg modify templates mobile, which have so far require such separate modifications?
