    Gantry and Mobile website configuration

Posted 12 years 2 months ago
    • Hello,
need your assistance on a Theme that I purchased time ago.
The Theme is Camber and the WP Version 3.5.1, the Gantry Framework is up to date.

My problem is that - even if it's been configured - the mobile version of the website doesn't work. If you need me to be more specific - with screenshots, links or anything else - please let me know.

Let me say that I had troubles in finding guides and/or specific topics about Gantry and Wordpress, more specifically, about the configuration of Gantry for mobile sites.

I really hope that you can assist me on this issue.

      Thank you for your support.

    • Oh.
So, here's the gist of it. You can enable the options for iPhone and Android devices, so when the visitor is using these devices it uses the special template files for those. Then you have to configure the mobile widget position: go to Widgets manager and add Gantry Logo widget to the Mobile Header position, then add Gantry Mobile Menu widget to the Mobile Navigation position to display the main menu. You can also use the position Aliases option, which allows you to 'redirect' a mobile custom position to a different one. This is great since you don't have to copy the widgets over to the mobile position, Gantry automatically gets the widgets of another position to be displayed in the specified mobile positions.
The mobile options is very easy to setup and customize for the developer and easy to navigate for the visitor.

Consider using the custom stylesheet for all your CSS customizations: gantry-framework.org/documentation/wordp...custom_stylesheet.md .

    • Hi Shazdeh,
thanks for your support, I appreciate it because I do not have access, anymore, to that forum.
I already tried by myself what you suggest but, without the expected results.

I am experiencing different kinds of problems that are discouraging me.
      Exemples:

yesterday, the site disappeared. After restoring db and web space, the website was still inaccessible and I had to delete the file "maintenancemode" in the Gantry folder. Then, I had to disable the Gantry cache.

If I want articles properly formatted, I have to use the html editor. And... if I switch from html to visual (and viceversa), I lose the formatting. (!!!)

I'm still looking for a solution to "lighten" the website (and, yes, I tried already to use Gzipper or Gantry cache, or compressed images at the right size).

At the moment, there are too many things that don't work well, and I'm seriously thinking of giving up Gantry combined with Wordpress.

Those are known bugs with 1.29 and 1.30 update for Gantry. They have been fixed for the new version, and those temporary solutions work very well too.

This is a WordPress bug unfortunately; so we can't do anything about it. I read somewhere that the only solution is to not switch between the Visual and Text mode, stick to either one to format the post.
