Do not change the outline name "Home" in Gantry 5 for Wordpress

Hi there,
Just a quick warning.
In the current Gantry 5 for Wordpress, if you change the name "Home" it completely corrupts your landing page.
I wanted to change the name in connection with a demo of the different presets. So I included the preset name in each outline name.
The result was that the landing page did impossible things, mixing up the outline settings completely with the original basic Wordpress layout, resulting in a total mix of the two, with navigation style applied in other sections, the menu bar moved to the top, all the animated blocks disappeared, etc. In short, a disaster.
Somewhere in Gantry 5 the name "Home" for the landing page outline seems to be hardcoded and linked to the name we see. So changing the name in our opinion should:
- be made impossible; or
- attempts to change the name should be followed by a strong warning not to do so, with explanation.

Thanks for the post, I tend to agree that our CSS should be independent of Outline Names and I'll suggest the same internally
So I misread that as you using the Outline name... but I got some clarity on how our styling targets various Outlines... you're speaking about changing the Menu Item name from "Home" to something else borked the styling? - Last Edit: 9 years 3 months ago by Matt.

Thanks for the reply, I missed seeing it come in. However, I don't quite understand your remark. How does our remark "Do not change the Outline name "Home"" translate to somebody changing a menu name? It is changing the Outline name which indeed borked the styling and more than that. It kicked the styling into different sections, amongst other things.... Never seen anything like it. Avoid changing the Outline Name "Home" at all cost is all we can say.

The Outline name is NOT injected into the HTML as a CSS Class or ID
The Menu name is though as is the Preset used on your Layout Manager..... so perhaps you changed which Preset is being used? The Preset name appears in parenthesis next to the Outline Name in the Layout Manager... you load various Presets from the bottom of the Layout Manager... most of our G5 templates' front-page styling will require that the Home, or Home Positions, Preset be used... whatever is set in the RocketLauncher - Last Edit: 9 years 3 months ago by Matt.

- Hi, thanks for thinking along. But never mind, I just intended the remark as a warning to others. We simply don't change the Outline name for "Home" anymore and we don't have any more problems. Not so much worried about why it happened, just happy that we were able to solve it directly by resetting the Outline name "Home-Preset-2" back to "Home". That's all. I changed it on the Outline management page incidentally, not on the Setup page, perhaps that makes a difference.

that's still weird... you should be able to change the Outline name to whatever you want... I am glad you've got a solution in place that works for you... I'll ping a dev to see if this makes sense to him just to cover our bases
