    Sidebar Displays on All Pages Except One

    Posted 14 years 2 months ago
    • Hi,

      PROBLEM: Sidebar-a DOES NOT display on the JomSocial "Edit Profile" page.

      DETAILS: However, sidebar-a DOES indeed display on ALL OTHER JomSocial pages, as well as on all other pages of site. I'm trying to display a module in sidebar-a of "Edit Profile" page, but JomSocial component expands into this position, as set forth below:

      Upon viewing the source code for the "Edit Profile" page, I observe the following code above the JomSocial component:
      <div id="rt-main" class="mb12">
      <div class="rt-grid-12 ">
      <div id="rt-content-top">
      <div class="rt-grid-12 rt-alpha rt-omega">
      <div class="module-full">

      In contrast, upon viewing the source code for any of the other JomSocial pages (e.g., "Edit Details"), which correctly display the sidebar-a position, I observe the following code above the JomSocial component:
      <div id="rt-main" class="sa3-mb9">
      <div class="rt-grid-9 rt-push-3">
      <div id="rt-content-top">
      <div class="rt-grid-9 rt-alpha rt-omega">
      <div class="module-full">

      QUESTION: How do I display sidebar-a on the JomSocial "Edit Profile" page?

      BACKGROUND:
      1. Sidebar-a and related modules display correctly on ALL other pages of the site.
      2. Mainbody position has 2 positions published and slider is set to 3|9 for sa mb.
      3. Modules are set to display on ALL pages in sidebar-a position, and modules appear to display correctly on all other pages of the site except for this particular page, as described above.
      4. Using Dominion and JomSocial
      5. Testing locally, therefore no url.

      Thanks in advance.

    • Here's some additional info:

      1. There are currently two position published in the mainbody at a ratio of 3|9. This is the default position for the entire site.

      2. I would like to display the sidebar-a position on all pages of the site. The problem is that sidebar-a displays on all pages except one --- the JomSocial "Edit Profile" page.

      3. Other module positions are visible on the "Edit Profile" page; that is, I can display modules in all positions except the sidebar positions on the "Edit Profile" page.

      4. Several attempts at solving this problem have involved the following:

      a. Enabling the menu-less setting in the admin area.

      b. Using hidden/non-hidden menus as a means of targeting the "Edit Profile" page for sidebar module display.

      c. Creating "inactive" positions and manually inserting code to force module display in sidebar area.

      In short, none of these approaches produced the desired result ---- to display modules in the sidebar-a position of the JomSocial "Edit Profile" page.

      Thanks again for your time and assistance.

    • hi again,

      thanks for the details. i had a look around but i am not sure why this is happening.
      i will ask one of our developers to take a look.
      you can also search or ask at the jomsocial forum, maybe they have had someone else with the same issue before.

    • Hi,

      Thank you for your support. Prior to submitting my initial post, I tried to solve the problem on my own by implementing a variety of common fixes (please see prior post for a brief summary). In addition, I searched all the relevant forums, including jomsocial, for any information that might shed light on the problem; unfortunately, none of these efforts provided information useful in solving the problem.

      Hopefully, one of the RocketTheme developers with expertise in the Gantry Framework will be able to offer a solution!

      Kind regards.

    • Hi,

      Still awaiting a reply from a RocketTheme developer who might know of a solution to this ostensibly Gantry-related problem.

      Thank you

    • Im suspecting we'll need to see a URL to diagnose this problem further. My hunch is that it is displayed, just not visible due to something on the page pushing it out or hiding it.

    • well my theory is not correct, you definitely have no sidebar-a published on that page, and it seems that it shows correctly on other pages. Can you check in the admin what you have set for the "Menu-less" pages in the advanced section of the template preferences? If its not enabled, enable it and pick a page where you know sidebar-a is showing

    • Hi,

      As described in my prior post, I've tried the "menu-less" page approach (along with several others) with no success (please see prior post).

      I still can't figure out what is wrong; all the traditional approaches to solving this problem have failed. I'm open to any creative solutions ---- no matter how inelegant. The overall objective is to display modules in the sidebar-a position on ALL pages. The problem is that the sidebar position displays on all pages (including all other JomSocial pages) EXCEPT ONE: the JomSocial "Edit Profile" page.

      Against this backdrop, the question remains as follows: "How do I display the sidebar position on all pages of the site, including the Edit Profile page?"

      Hopefully a developer will spot something that I have overlooked, since I'm still struggling to find a solution.

      Thanks in advance.
