Split Menu help

    • I am using Panacea and split menus. Everything works as it is supposed to. I would like to only show the menu items for the level we are currently at.

Let's say I'm on the homepage of my Web site. If I consider the 4 items below to constitute my main menu with children as indicated:

      *Home (children: none)
      Food (children: fruits, vegetables, meat)
      Liquid (children: water, juice, wine)
      Contact Us (children: none)

So, the user does not see the children. Only the parent items.

Now I click on "Food". With the current settings, the "Food" menu expands to show "fruits", "vegetables", "meat" like this:

      Home
      *Food
      Fruits
      Vegetables
      Meat
      Liquid
      Contact Us

INSTEAD, I want it to show the CHILDREN ONLY, like this: showing the content of the "Food" main page in the main content area)

      -Food Menu-
      Fruits
      Vegetables
      Meat

      Thank you for any help

    • hi there,

if i am not misunderstanding you, then that's exactly how the splitmenu works already.
do you have an example where it is not working as you wish?

    • Thank you so much for a response.

      Take a look here: demo.rockettheme.com/jul10/features/typography

See how typography is in the main menu on the right? With its children links below it...
How can I make that part of the menu, say "Typography Menu" and just show its children? And the the rest of the menu items in this sidebar-a disappear...

So it would look like this:
      Typography Menu
      HTML Examples
      RokCandy Example
      etc....

If Split Menu already does this, i'm unsure of how to configure it to do so. Right now, every time I click a menu item or any of its children, all the menu items show up on the next loaded page making my menu very long down the page.

    • hi steven,

the link you showed me is using the fusionmenu, so it behaves differently.

you can check the following link to see the same page with splitmenu:
      demo.rockettheme.com/jul10/features/typo...?menu-type=splitmenu

in this page the item 'typography' is active, which itself is a child item of 'features'.
so now the 'features' menu appears on the right side, along with all it's children and the children of the active 'typography'. if you browse around now you will continue to see the splitmenu function.
(the main menu which you can see as well on the right side is a separate module and not part of the splitmenu, it can be disabled if needed)

to use the splitmenu on your own site, just go to your panacea template settings > menus > and set splitmenu instead of fusionmenu.

    • OK...I see what you are saying. So is it possible in your example for the non-active children of "features" to be hidden and only the "typography" and it's child items show when on the typography page? My goal is to not have a long menu going way down the page when i have many child items on the 2nd and 3rd levels.

      Thank you again...

    • hi again,

honestly not sure how that would be done. that would probably require some major hacking of the module, i will ask the other mods if they have any ideas.

you should also search or post at the joomla.org forum.
