Unable to update Gantry

We are having an issue with Gantry. When we try to update Gantry in the Template Manger it destroys our site. (see picture A) Notice the header graphic and menus are gone. The site should look like this, (see picture B.) We have tried to update Gantry twice, unsuccessfully. We contacted the service provider to restore our site and they were able to do that from a back-up they had so the site is up and running but Gantry is still broken.
So after the failed attempts to update Gantry we thought ok, fine we won't update Gantry, we will just keep the version there that we had. There's a problem though, Gantry is broken in the backend. When you go to Template Manger > Styles> into the Gantry "control panel" the first tab you see is fine ((see picture C) not sure this is important but notice the "vunknown") but when you click on another tab you get a blank white screen.
We would also mention that we are not sure at this point when the problem may have first started. We first encountered the issue when we were making a small edit to the gantry.css, but we had made edits to it before with out a problem. So we are thinking that it may have been "broken" before and just never noticed it because we had not tried to access the Template Manger > Style Gantry control panel for a while.
The site seems to be ok when you look at it (now that the service provider had restored it from the back-up) but there is something very messed up because Gantry is not functioning at all in the backend. We have gone through the thread "Gantry Admin-troubleshooting tips". index.php?f=337&t=116235&p=582515&rb_v=viewtopic#p582515 We have checked most of the things in there but we are confused a bit about some of them. We have also looked at several of the other posts about "Gantry blank white screens" but they did not seem to be related to this issue.

Gantry: 3.2.13
Joomla: 1.7
PHP Version: 5.31
Database Prefix: fnaj_
Browser: Firefox 9.0.1

We hope someone is able to help with this issue. We're really under a tight deadline with our client.
